Umpires across the globe lost a true friend! Val was one of our biggest supporters! Jim and Val treated you as you were part of their family. No matter how long a game went, Jim and Val and Mike, wanted you to stop over. Val would put out a spread like no other. Who else wants to get a hot tub so their guests can relax and also theater seats so you got the comforts of home while on the grind of summer travel. She was truly a big league person in a minor league city. Umpires hearts hurt across the globe, because we lost a good one person and a good friend! Jim you were a lucky guy and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! We tip our hat to Val, no more extra inning games for her! Every umpire that’s passed through Bowie, thanks you and will miss her wave from the seats! God bless!

We can't begin to understand your loss.  Valerie was such a bright and driving force and her passing has definitely left us stunned.  We were all just looking forward to kicking off the 2018 season with our preseason dinner.  And then to receive the news....

Valerie was a surrogate Mom to so many of us during the years.  And an even better friend. We are going to miss her warmth, her hospitality and her beautiful smile!

You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.  Lots of love

I know and understand your pain. No one can say anything to take away the grief, but you can take some comfort in the fact that so many people are standing with and behind you.
