Bernard "Bob" Spencer Worthing, 88, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Eagle River Memorial Hospital, Eagle River, WI. Born January 23, 1920 in Evansville,WI, Bob, a devoted and loving family man grew up in Brooklyn,WI, spent several years in Rexburg, ID prior to military service, and lived in Rockford 58 years. He spent his remaining years in St. Germain, WI living with his daughter and son- in-law, enjoying the northwoods. He is the son of Frank & Madeline (DeRemer) Worthing. Married to the former Carolyn Lindblom in Rockford on June 8, 1946. She predeceased him December 4, 2001. He was employed as a metal worker by Triangle Metals Co. for 34 years. Also worked for Roper Whitney Co., and Sundberg Funeral Home.Veteran of WWII, U.S. Marines, South Pacific. Member of Alpine Lutheran Church for over 50 years. 56 year Master Mason and member of Masonic Lodge #102. Former member of the Tebala Shrine. Past Commander of Carlson American Legion Post #1207.Graduated Rockford East High School and attended Rockford Business College. He is survived by his daughter, Ann (Peter) Matz, St. Germain, WI. Granddaughters Ellyn (Erik) Wehler, Stevens Point, WI and Holly (Jimmy) Pettersson, Minocqua, WI. 2 step granddaughters, Rachel (James) Culp and Sarah Matz. Great grandsons Leo Wehler and Peyton Culp. Also survived by three nieces, one nephew, and a cousin. Predeceased by two sisters.Services 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2008 in Alpine Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Richard Meier officiating. Visitation one hour prior to services. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd. Memorials to Alpine Lutheran Church.
