Dorothy Jean St. Angel, 88, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 in Independence Village. Dorothy was born on August 26, 1930 in Janesville, WI, explaining her life-long love of the Green Bay Packers. She was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Kruger) Schmaling. Dorothy graduated from West High School. She married Charles A. St. Angel in Rockford on October 7, 1952. He predeceased her in 1981. She owned and operated The Friendly Beauty Nook in the Broadway area for 30 years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Swedish American Hospital and the Cornucopia Food Pantry. She loved reading and traveling. Survivors include sisters, Arlene Ward of Chandler, AZ, Sally Carter of Rockford, IL, Sandra Kunz of Fond Du Lac, WI, brother, and Gerald Schmaling of Rockford, IL. Nieces and nephews include Chuck and Michele Beach, Chris Diebold and Angie Ouverson, Robin Reasoner, John and Glenda Dukey, Tom McVay, Robert and Amanda Swanson, and Tim and Audra Bullock. With her joy, faith, and zest for life, she also inspired several great-nieces and great-nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and sister, Janet Diebold.
Dorothy's celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., Rockford, IL 61107. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.View Dorothy Jean St. Angel's Guestbook
