Joan M. Pennock, 86, of Rockford passed away 9:33 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center ER. Born Sept. 14, 1931 in Rockford, daughter of Harald and Jeanette (Winger) Frang. Graduated from East High School in 1949 and Northern IL University with a bachelor degree in physical education in 1953. Married to David A. Pennock on September 25, 1959 in Rockford, IL. He predeceased her March 4, 1976. She was a former PE teacher with Rockford School District. She was on the executive staff for Girl Scout for many years. Later she worked for Regional Office of Education. Active member of PEO and YMCA Senior Women's Club. Joan was an active bowler, a watercolor artist and enjoyed crossword and puzzles. Survived by children, Janice Pennock and her husband, Mike Rodriguez; Michael Pennock and his wife, Antina Richards-Pennock; brother, Ralph (Betty) Frang; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation 10 a.m. - noon on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, with service beginning at noon. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
