Leon Miller, 73, died at 6:30 a.m., Mon., Nov. 10, 2008 in his homefrom leukemia. Born Feb. 19, 1935 in Dorohiczyn, Belarurs, while under Polish occupation. Son of Jan and Kataryna Mielnik. He was a survivor of a labor campunder the Nazi regime. He came to the U.S. from Germany in 1949. Married Nina Harbachuck in Chicago on May 15, 1954. He was an army veteran serving in Korea from 1958 - 1960. Former heat treater at Rockford Productsand later a self-employed electrical contractor. Member of IBEW and a devoutfisherman. Survivors: wife, Nina of Rockford, daughter, Cyndy (Leon) Black ofLoves Park, son, John (Erin) Miller of Texas, 5 grandchildren, Calvin, Chris, Rachel, Ben and Josh. Predeceased by his parents and a sister Mary Mielnik. Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Sat., Nov. 15, 2008 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Basil Aden and Fr. Samuel Sherry will co-officiate. Burial will follow inGreenwood Cemetery.
