Mildred Johanning

Mildred "Millie" Johanning, 84, died suddenly at 8 :13 p.m., Sat., May12, 2007 in SwedishAmerican Hospital E.R. Born Feb. 2, 1923 in Rockford, the daughterof Adolph and Gerda (Gabrielsen) Midtskog, and attended Rockford public schools. Married Alphonse "Al" Johanning in Rockford on April 28, 1951. She was the former owner/operator of Millie's Beauty Shop, 115 Seventh Street for 50 years, retiring in 1990. Life member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Goodwill Circle), and Harmony Singing Society. A member of the Sons of Norwayand Daughters of Valhall. Survivors include her husband, Al of Rockford, a brother, Adolph "Mitt" Midtskog; a niece, Janice (Dr. William) Acker; and a great-niece Rebecca(Travis) Renner, all of Phoenix, AZ; special cousins, Ruth Lindgren of Rockford and Gordon (Betty) Skee of Sun City West, AZ; Glen Gabrielsen of Seattle, WA, and Patricia Nolan of Alden, IL; and many special friends including Sandy Bounds. Predeceased by her parents, a niece, Jill Midtskog, great-nephews, Matthew and Robert Acker, and sister-in-law, Betty Midtskog. Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Lee Laaveg, pastor, officiating. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
