William "Bill" Johnson, 70, of Machesney Park, died at 4:50 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 in his home after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born Aug. 20, 1948 in Rockford, to William F. Johnson Jr. and Irene L. (Paulson) Johnson. Graduated from West High School and Rock Valley College. Married the former Mary Anna Rakuc in Elkhorn, WI on Feb. 14, 2002. Formerly employed by Ingersoll Cutting Tool, retiring in 2017 after 52 years of service, developing many patents along the way. Member of the Verdi Club. He was an avid fisherman and loved boating. He was a passionate Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan, finally getting to see his team win it all in 2016. Survivors include, wife, Mary Anna Johnson; children, Jon (Lisa) Johnson, Jill Johnson, Kate Theresa, Ryan (Brienne) Kennedy; grandchildren, Stephan, Samantha, Vivian, and Corbin; furry kids, Millie the Lab and Alex; siblings, Gary (Cheryl) Johnson; Janet Johnson; Brian Johnson; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents.
Gathering of friends and family from 10 a.m. - noon, on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL 61107. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of America for their care and compassion. Private burial at a later date.
